Redwoods & Sea Bicycle Pinot Tour

Tour Dates: June 28th, July 26th & August 30th starting at 11:30am, approximately 5 hours.

What could be more fun than drinking wine and getting some exercise? Join us for a bike tour where we'll embark on a gentle ride through the beautiful redwoods of the lush Forest of Nisene Marks in Aptos. The ride is appropriate for most skill and fitness levels and includes stops on the way into and out of the park at Aptos Creek Vineyard, a lovely boutique vineyard located on the park's edge.

Next we'll visit the west side of Santa Cruz's own Surf City Vintners which features six unique wineries, a brewery and a gourmet bakery. Between tastings, we'll ride out through the historic farm at Wilder Ranch and out to the scenic coastal bluffs and back.

The price of the tour is $95 per guest.

Lunch and snacks are included. Bikes, helmets, water, snacks, binoculars, and handlebar bags provided. Less $10 w/own bike & helmet.

Space is limited, so reserve early.

A Recent Article by Austin Twohig:

A Wine Solution for Hard Times
It has been a tough economy in the last year for most business and we have all been looking for ways to do things in a more price conscious way. Wine is certainly one product that varies greatly in price and an area where it is easy and sensible to cut back. This being said, we do not need to be buying Gallo and Kendall-Jackson just yet. There are actually some very good locally-made Santa Cruz wines that are reasonably priced. The “under $20” wine in this area is worth looking at and the importance of supporting our local economy in a time like this makes it a no-brainer. Barry Jackson, who makes sparkling wine under the Equinox label and still wine under the Bartolo label, produces an easy-to-drink wine he calls Cioppino because it is a blend of five different grape varietals. It is a light fruity red wine that I have enjoyed on many evenings with a casual dinner. For a $14 bottle Cioppino is a very reasonable everyday table wine that has no flaws. Another excellent buy is Soquel Vineyard’s “Trinity.” This red wine is a little heartier than the Cioppino and a little more full bodied. It can be found at Shopper’s Corner in the $12 range which is a steal for a well made Santa Cruz wine. Another wine you can find at Shopper’s is Beauregard’s Sauvignon Blanc. This under $20 wine has tropical fruit and a nice balanced acidity. For those of you who don’t know, Shopper’s Corner is a great locally owned market at the corner of Soquel and Branciforte with many excellent and moderately priced wines to choose from. Most wines priced under $15 are mass produced and have no character or grape quality to them. For Santa Cruz wineries to be offering well-made small-production wines at this price range it is an obvious steal to us local wine drinkers. Everyone needs that “every night” table wine that they can drink daily and it’s good to know that it is possible to find local wine that can fit that need. Supporting our local economy and drinking Santa Cruz wine at a reasonable price? That sounds like a reason to “Cheers” to me!
